steam servers busy

Hey guys,

So I was playing some CSS last night until about 130am or something, went to sleep and I've just gone to play and it continually tells me the Steam Servers are too busy to handle the request.

I've followed all of the FAQ suggestions relating to getting rid of one of the registry files, changing the download area/server and i've even re-installed steam.

I have two housemates, who are both currently logged into steam, playing steam games with no issues. So this problem is isolated to my pc - however, the only thing that has changed between now and last night is that I had Alien Swarm downloading..

Every other part of my internet is fine.. just checked speeds and they're as strong as ever.. Playing CoD4 (outside of steam) i'm averaging my normal 30-50 ping.

I've since removed all local cached data for Alien Spawn (in case that download was in some weird way effecting the rest of steam), however nothing seems to work.

Any other ideas? So I've been in both Windows and Linux and steam is crashing, I'm guessing it has to do with the update. ...

problem verifying the certificate from the server

If you have recently renewed the certificate on your OCS Front-End and are having Communicator sign-in issues with some clients, you might want to check that those client machines have an updated list of trusted Root CA’s on their client machine.

Some Certificate Authorities change certificate details such as the name in the “Issue By” field when a certificate is renewed, which will cause Communicator to give the infamous: There was a problem verifying the certificate from the server. Please contact your system administrator” error. Other changes can cause certificate cross-signing issues.

If you suspect that this is the case, check the details of your old certificate and new certificate and contact your Certificate Authority if there was a change.

Some CA’s such as digicert have test websites that clients can point their browser to and check whether this CA is trusted by their client machine. See digicert Trusted Root Authority Certificates for an example.

Microsoft has a package that client machine...

kentish observer

At 4:30 on a recent Friday afternoon, Del Posto, the 10th Avenue behemoth of a restaurant owned by Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich, had a bustling and vaguely portentous feel. Servers in black and white scurried up and down the two grand staircases in the main dining room, which, multi-tiered and blandly opulent, has been compared to a hotel lobby. An imperious maître d’ in a suit and tie manned the phones from a desk in front of a massive dried flower arrangement, while a few bald, corporate-type older men, possibly holdovers from lunch, sipped wine at scattered tables. Mark Ladner, the restaurant’s Clark Kentish and taciturn executive chef, sat at the far end of the long granite bar in full chef regalia: white apron, designer jeans rolled at the ankle, white Crocs.

Mr. Ladner, 38, was finishing up a business meeting with a man in a suit. He is not in the habit of lurking around the dining room of his 26,000-square-foot, 400-seat, double-Michelin-starred restaurant, particularly when actual customers are present.

“I guess in some ways I’m sort of shy,” he said in a low monotone entir...

Corel was founded by Michael Cowpland in 1985, who intended it to be a research laboratory (“Corel” is an abbreviation of “Cowpland Research Laboratory”). The company had great success early in the high-tech boom of the nineties with the product CorelDraw, and became, for a time, the biggest software company in Canada.

Corel attempted to compete with Microsoft Word after acquiring the WordPerfect software title from Novell in 1996. Cowpland believed that WordPerfect could be the “Pepsi to Microsoft’s Coke”, as Microsoft Word was the top-used word processing software at the time. Corel’s job was made significantly more difficult due to Microsoft’s strategy to push pre-loaded copies of Word onto new computers.

A barrage of new projects followed the WordPerfect acquisition, including Corel Video, Barista (a Java-based document exchange format), Corel WordPerfect Suite For Java (an attempt to rewrite Corel’s software suite using Java), Corel Compute...

The GPS system is a satellite navigation system operated by the US Department of Defence. It essentially provides a subscription-free civilian timing and navigation service. GPS is primarily intended as a highly accurate global positioning and navigation reference. However, a by-product of accurate positioning is that each orbiting satellite also has an integrated highly precise atomic clock unit synchronised by the US Naval Observatory (USNO). It is therefore ideal for providing a high accuracy time reference for computer timing systems, such as NTP. This article attempts to describe simply, how network time servers can obtain accurate timing information to provide a precise reference for computer time synchronisation. It also discusses how NTP servers can utilise the atomic time generated by GPS to provide a timing reference d&g time watches for computer networks.

The GPS system is a constellation of 24 orbiting satellites, each with highly precise atomic clock timing systems onboard. The system provides a global service, which can be received anywhere on the face of the planet. Accurate time data is transmitted continuously from each satellit...

I’ve focused a lot of my attention over the past year on the emergence of B2C social media marketing, how various social channels compare, and what capabilities are needed to evolve from simple outreach to engagement and ultimately conversion (selling more stuff) via social campaigns – see my recent guest piece in Social Times and prior blog posts.

Sending MIME email in PHP
Tired of sending those drab textual notifications and newsletters to your friend and clients? Ever wanted to send attachments and/or HTML embedded email. The answer is MIME. The ensuing few pages explain the basics of MIME, creating MIME-compliant messages and then ends with a working class implementation of sending MIME complaint email in PHP. Note that references to calling script, caller etc. denote the script that uses the class we are about to develop and client/MUA etc. denote a mail reading client or mail user agent. PHP: Sending Email (Text/HTML/Attachments)
So, you want to send automated email messages from your PHP application. This can be in direct response to a user's action, such as signing up for your site, or a recurring event at a set time, such as a monthly newsletter. Sometimes email contains file attachments, both plain text and HTML portions, and so on. To understand how to send each variation that may exist on an email, we will start with the simple example and move to the more complicated. Smileys System
In this tutorial we'll be creating a system which will convert ...

offshore dedicated server

Not exactly sure what you meant on the bold bit. Also, this would depend on what you are actually using the server for. Your statement is basically saying 200 people that are connected each at 5mbps concurrently.
In reality, when users load a website, I highly doubt it will max out their connection to like you said, ~5mbps, for a long period of time. It's most likely the case they would download for example, a 1mb website (incl. images, etc) and the network port would be freed. In the future when they load the same website again, they would probably be downloading less than 50% of the original amount, as it would be loading the remainder from the cache as well - depending on how well you have optimized your website.

So really, this depends on what your website is really, e.g. a File Hosting site, a blog, etc. As well as other factors including your current visitor and traffic requirements. I just don't think 1gbps would be necessary for a standard website. If it is a image/file hosting website, then yea, this would be advisable as you would want to provide the 'best' connection speeds for users to swiftly download/upload.

Yes, if a user's connectio...
